Personal Life
Following the release of the 1993 film Zanjeer Amitabha Bachchan married his co-star, Jaya Bhaduri. When the duo first meet at the Film and Television Institute of India Jaya says she fell in love with the actor right away. Amitabh Bachchan confesses falling in love with his co-star on the sets of the movie Ek Nazar. The couple got married and had two children Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan-Nanda. Actor Abhishek Bachchan is well-known in Bollywood.
Rise to stardom
Amitabha Bachchan faced challenges upon his arrival in Bombay even spending a few nights on a bench at Marine Drive. Many People deemed him too dark to play a protagonist in Bollywood. In 1969 Amitabh Bachchan used his deep baritone voice to narrate the award-winning Bhuvan Shome. He made his acting debut as one of the seven heroes in Khwaja Ahmad Abbas’ Saat Hindustani. The 6'1" actor came to the attention of the public when he costarred with Rajesh Khanna as a doctor in Anand, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Despite a series of unsuccessful films the young man continued to pursue his dreams.

In 1975 the superstar appeared in two of India's greatest films, Yesh Chopta’s Deewar, and Sippy’s Sholay.

The actor survived a potentially catastrophic splenic rupture that he sustained in 1982 while filming a fight sequence for the movie Coolie with Puneet Issar. The country hung its breath but Bachchan resumed filming after being discharged from the hospital a few months later.
